Waterloo in 15mm

What rules would you recommend for a big 15mm refight of Waterloo (60+ battalions a side, 40 man infantry, 20 man cavalry units), and who apart from AB does the finest figures in this scale?

Sounds like a great game lined up,

 I would play General de brigade if you are playing it at a 1:20 scale  which the rules are set up for  Might be a bit of a handful if you have more than a division per person ..

As for figs I have Essex miniatures-  Prussians which i think are very nice models  .

We have played Waterloo in 15mm and 25/28mm using Shako 2 rules. Takes about 7-8 Hours on an 18' table. The difficulty is somehow preventing the French from literally running over the Anglo allied army because they have Helicopter Hindsight.

We played Waterloo on the 200th Anniversary using Napoleon's Battles using AB figures.

Napoleon's Battles are good rules - but have a few oddities that I don't like.  When we do it again we'll use Age of Eagles - pretty much the same basing, figure scale and ground scale.

When it comes to figures AB are streets ahead of anyone else.  They are the only manufacturer I would recommend....but there are others.  I have a mix of AB, Battle Honours, Old Glory, Essex and Minifigs. The Minifigs come from the time when they were pretty much the only ones on the market...they are highly stylised.  Essex are variable - some good and others like Mike's Models.  Old Glory are OK.  Not sure where you get Battle Honours from any more.

I have played Waterloo 4 times, with Napoleons Battles, Republique and twice with Volley and Bayonet.
V&B gave by far the most satisfying feeling of commanding troops in a large battle.

BUT, none of those are 1:20 so won't suit the unit sizes you want. You are looking at either "General de Brigade" or "Republic to Empire", the latter probably coping better with that many units per side.
Either way that is a major undertaking.
