Deadites - Painted Ghouls [I live. Again...]
« Reply #30 on: May 23, 2017, 08:59:44 AM »
These guys were finished at the end of last year already, but I never got around to posting them, until I accidentally ran into the pictures last night. Better late than never, right? :D

As previously stated; I used GW's Escape from Goblin-Town Goblins for them, and I honestly think they're better Ghouls than Goblins! They certainly have that inbred, unhealthy look to them.

I painted them not too different from Mr. Jackson's vision of them, as I always imagined that he had ghouls in mind anyway when he went through the design approval process for these guys... ;)

Mine are a good deal more sickly and light deprived though, as befits them. A straight diet of putrid water and rotting meat (more often than not of your species too) can't be too good for your health after all...

The leader is Heresy's Ghoul King and he fits right in too! A few Renedra Headstones were added to the bases as well, to give the impression they're scampering over some run down cemetery.

They were very easy to paint, being single piece plastic models all (bar the metal king of course). I did almost everything with washes over a white basecoat, which was not only effective, but also pretty quick. There were also very few details to pick out after that, so that made them even faster to paint.

All in all I really liked painting them. I now have two 10 man(ish) units, but I have enough of them to make another and I'm sorely tempted to squeeze those into my painting queu, just because they're so easy and fun to paint up :)

Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Wow, nice! They certainly make good ghouls (well, these minis work fine as many things... except as goblins!)
I love the skin tones, they all look truly scary!

Beautiful work Daeothar, well done!

I really like all the subtle sickly colours you've worked in as shading, and also how well they fit with their towering leader. :)

These are also especially interesting to me as I got a set of these plastic Hobbit goblins a while back to use as Ghouls and/or as conversion-fodder for Dregs for Mordheim, so I am pleased to see how well they work in this context.

Thanks guys :)

Major; yes; they would indeed work perfectly as dregs too!

Have I seen these already?
I remember you telling me about painting them with washes, but don't recall the pics.

I guess they didn't leave much of an impression ;D

All kdding aside, lovely sickly (that's a thing now) hues.

Actually, I don't think you did...   :o

I still  need to show and tell the block of skellies and block of Night Gobbo's too, come to think of it.

Dang; I've got photography to do now...  ::)

Very Nice. I'll echo the Heresy Ghoul King sentiments. Great addition.

Nice painting, and I agree that the ghoul boss fits in nicely... in fact I think he'd make much better Goblin King than the horrid GW lump based on the movie. Works both ways, see? :)

The ghouls are excellent. I have some of those goblins I got for the same purpose but haven't got around to painting them.
