I've been cogitating for an eon on how to make the buildings/control rooms for my Dalek city. It's going to be 4X4 and to populate that with buildings and corridors from, say, Ainsty Castings will cost more than mi' house! Prevaricated over foamboard and wotnot but couldn't make my mind up. Yesterday Herself was baby sitting and building something in Lego... and Skaro#'s Dalek City is born!!! 
You can get bags of the stuff for next to nowt, build all the bits and bobs, then spray 'em with silver paint.

As you are in the UK, have a look in Wilkinson's (Wilko), they have not Lego for sale by the bucket together with bases.

Exactly! The rooms and corridors will all be silver, any nobbly bits that end up visible will be picked out in gold, red and green... job's a good 'un!
