Luftwaffe Mediterranean/Desert colours
« on: 16 July 2017, 04:39:08 PM »
I am making a couple of FoW Stukas for North Africa and am struggling to find the closest Vallejo equivalents for the Med. camo scheme using a sand colour for the base (RLM 79 or 79a) and green blotches (RLM 80).  I am fairly sure Vallejo olive green will do for the blotches, but am stuck with the base colour. Can someone help please?

Also, the lower surfaces should be RLM78, which is a light blue shade, of which I have a few but almost certainly not the right ones. Any suggestions please?

And if there is an expert out there who knows this kind of stuff, I have a similar question about three Fiat CR 42s!

Looks like the Vallejo Model Air range, has colours to match specific RLM shades

Vallejo Model Color Brown Sand (RLM79) (Vallejo Paint val132)

Vallejo Model Air - Sand Yellow RLM79 (17 ml) - 71278

Vallejo Model Air 101 Blue RLM 78

(I found the above with a quick google - which is more normal method of finding paint matches between ranges or real world values)

Fred - ordered, thank you.  All my Vallejo stock is either Model or Game Colour and I have not used Model Air before so didn't think of that  o_o

Actually I had googled first, with some success, but is it not normal to ask for advice on this forum? Personally, I prefer a bit of interaction on points of doubt, where I can ask "but what if...?" type questions.

I only found Model Air recently - looking to match Portland Stone.

My note about Googling colour matches was more for expediency - rather than anything else. I've also spotted a typo - it should have been my, not more. Mistakenly putting more in does rather change the meaning.

The vallejo equivalents chart suggest 972 876 & 894 in model colour range.
