Thanks for comments on the mini. I was pleased about her expression.

Yes, it's amazing how easy it is to forget just how varied the human form can be. My reaction upon receiving some Dark Sword miniatures was disappointment at the disparity in height between them and most of my other fantasy humans, but once they're based up and painted in roughly the same style the mind is perfectly willing to acknowledge that, actually, some of us are below average in height, some are above and some are, well, average. As long as the heads and hands aren't too out of kilter with the rest of the body - Games Workshop's heroic proportions just look weird next to pretty much everything else...

I agree up to a certain extent. A few years ago, I decided to give up on 28mm minis and shift to 1/48-1/50 (35mm). There are some advantages. They are easier to paint, convert and sculpt. They are also much more compatible with 1/43-1/48 die cast vehicles and O-scale accessories. The downside is that there is very little choice  and I'm reaching a point where I have to essentially sculpt everything myself. I'm actually considering giving up on this little experiment and rejoin the 28mm community.

Ask Mila about a Pulp Alley RPG secretly in the works!  ;)

I vaguely remember some mention by either Dave or Mila about a Pulp Alley RPG being in the works, soon after the first Pulp Alley book came out and people were moaning about the lack of character progression in the rules. Though, that was ages ago and I haven't heard anything about it since.

If I were starting from scratch, I'd probably start with 1:72 miniatures, which has so many options for historical miniatures (which, since monsters are to an extent scale-blind, would work for many fantasy settings) and is relatively inexpensive. Alas, I'm too heavily invested in 28mm to try and collect another scale alongside...

That said, 28mm does seem to be the scale for embracing a broad variety of non-military 20th Century goodies. It just means having to scour toy shops for affordable vehicles!

With 1/72 you have lots of options on generical (rank and file) historical miniatures, but in 28mm you have much more options of CHARACTERS, IMHO. Also 28mm is waaay easier on the eyes for painting, converting and gaming than 1/72!  :D

Aeons ago when I've tested the Pulp Alley rules with some friends in HK, we used several pre-painted AT-43 and DUST minis (1/48 scale, and very cheap in local toy stores at that time) for a Weird Wars/Sci Fi multiplayer game; a friend of mine liked the miniatures so much that nowadays he only collects and plays in 1/48 scale - but his girlfriend says that's because he has a soft spot for Paolo Parente's girls sculpts!  lol

(and yes, he has a couple of girls-only armies!)  :D

I wouldn't consider 1/72 myself. If one day I decided to downsize properly, I would go all the way down to 15mm.

I like well-sculpted alluring and titillating female minis in essentially all flavours and declinations, be they prehistoric, Ancient, medieval, modern, sci-fi, biker chicks or vampire, but there's one genre I can't stand: WW2 soft porn a la Paolo Parente!

Paolo Parente has even expanded his soft porn industry to 1/6 scale collectible dolls, the guy is a marketing monster!  lol

Not sure this is the place where you intended to post the announcement of your new Q&A! That said, I'm really enjoying your Pulp Alley videos on Youtube.
