Box of Delights characters needed
« on: 13 August 2017, 08:25:00 PM »
I think I'm posting this in the right place! I'm taking part in a Halloween game, but want to bring along a witch figure with a difference so am looking for 28mm figures to represent the villains from John Masefield's books The Midnight Folk and The Box of Delights. Both set around 1927-35.

Here are some pictures of the characters portrayed in the 1980's TV version of the Box of Delights. Abner Brown the evil wizard disguised as a clergyman ("the Reverend Doctor Boddledale") and his accomplice, the witch Sylvia Daisy Pouncer. It would be great to get a figure in a quilted dressing gown, but any vicar will do that looks like Robert Stephens! Likewise a suitable fashionably dressed interwar lady for the witch.

Can you help... I'm not really au fait with figures from this period, so many thanks

Nothing perfect comes to mind, but look at "Upper-Crust Swells" (PGJ 14) in Pulp  Figures.

The not-Sexton Blake figure in Pulp Figures Drawing Room Detectives has a dressing gown on?

Here's a couple of clergy--they seem to be performing exorcisms though:

The first is at https://www.cruciblecrush.com/shop/rafm-call-of-cthulhu-miniatures/,

the second on Chronoscope: https://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/vicar

Thanks for that. Nice figures but a bit too dynamic for my bad egg clergyman.

Think "Cluedo" characters.

Scroll down for my painted sets.

There are a couple of plastic sets actually for the game.  To see a sample of both vicars take a look here.

(To see the relevant vicars select Rev Green 1 and 2)

I have both full sets bought from Ebay for very little.  Just haven't painted them yet.
