Looking for 28mm heads with Tricorn hats
« on: 20 August 2017, 02:21:06 PM »
I don't normally visit this bit of the forum, but I think this is a more appropriate place to post this question than my normal stomping ground in Future Wars.

I'm looking for male (and, ideally, also female) heads with tricorn hats (or something similarly nautical in nature) in a suitable 28mm size so as to be compatible with GW sized human figures.  I've got a GW male Commissar and a Grim Skull female Commissar that I'd like to convert to have tricorns (or similar) rather than the peaked officers' hats they come with.  My intent is that they're ex-pirates/privateers that have made enough money to go (semi-)legit and now run the spaceport in my fringes-of-40K skirmish/RPG setting, so I want to give them a subtle nautical vibe.

Ideally, I'm after separate heads and/or hats (for ease of conversion and to save 'wasted' cost on the rest of the miniature to be discarded), but if need be I am willing to buy a whole miniature to get the head/hat.  If I'm forced to go down the latter route, Black Scorpion's pirate range looks promising - given the fantasy twist to it, I assume it will be more at the 'heroic' end of the spectrum, so should be a reasonable scale match.

Other than Black Scorpion, I've had a bit of a Google, but can't find separate heads, or figures that don't come in big Regt-sized boxes, so would appreciate any pointers or suggestions anyone may be able to provide.

Black Hat used to have some -- they're ideal sized for GW-type figures. I don't think they were ever on the website... Bung them an email.

Ebor have separate (male) heads in tricorns in their 28mm WSS range :

Dunno how well they'll fit with GW figures size-wise though.

Thank-you for the pointers.  I think those Ebor heads look like a good starter for 10 - with that many heads I could afford to experiment with cutting that hat off to transplant onto a female head as well.
