Repainting the Ruined Coaching Inn

Heyhey, I'm back with a rather large piece of resin.

This is Tabletop World's Ruined Coaching Inn:







Of course this kit has been OOP for a while now. The gentleman I'll repaint this one for got it off ebay at a pretty good price (considering the kit) and had it painted by someone somewhere. He got it back, and wasn't quite pleased with the result, so he gave it to me now. I painted quite a lot of stuff for him over the past 8 or 9 years, and he seems to like what I do. So the idea is to repaint this building so it a.) looks snazzier and b.) more like the Townhouse II I painted for him a while ago.



That's the one. So yeah, the mission is pretty clear. Wish me luck!

Cracking repaint so far! Really nice. The red brick makes a nice consistent splash of colour, and I love the icy blue highlights on the shingles.

This reminds me I also have this massive resin monster stored in a box somewhere – but not a lick of paint on it yet since I stopped playing Mordheim.
These pics make a great reference for the far-off day when I tackle it. So thank you!

great job... the other guy looks like he almost left it as a base coat for you... needed all the little shadows, highlights and details done. Great job taking it to the next level!

@tomogui: Cheers. Elsewhere I got called out for the dust making little sense as wind and rain would wash it all away, but oh well. It's all about contrast, that's the thing, isn't it. Congrats on owning this model indeed. It's such a cool piece.

@gibby64: Thank you! Well, most of the thing was repainted from the ground up, because it's quicker and easier I think to just do my thing rather than working out how to bend the existing paintjob into my own approach.

@mweaver: Thanks! Love how the lucky few who own this model come in here. it's really fun to paint once you get over the awe of the size of the thing.

It never rains in Mordheim.  At least, not proper rain.   

And wind deposits dust, as well as blowing it away.  If that was a real ruined building where I live (dry South Texas) it would certainly be quite dusty.

That is a gorgeous repaint. The difference is stunning. OUTSTANDING WORK!

I agree. The rained on dust doesn't wash away. It forms muddy puddles that are crusty deposits when dry. Here in Texas, the dust piles up to the extent that you can see why they have to dig out ancient civilizations.

That's very impressive. Rain won't necessarily wash away dirt and dust, it will often just create dirty areas of residue. Particularly if it then gets dried out by sun and wind.

Fine paintjob, you made it yours!
As you continue your work, I would expect to see more decay and debris and the floor planks in a more pitiful state 
Dust comments also are very worthy. Eager to see it finished! Cheers!
