Journey's End film
« on: 02 December 2018, 11:30:56 PM »
Just saw the film Journey's End and can't use enough superlatives.  Based on the 1928 play, it involves a British company waiting in the trenches for what it knows is coming - the all out German offensive of 1918.

Interesting. I am just reading 'Der Tag X' [X-Day], written by Gustav Goes as part of the 'Unter dem Stahlhelm' [Under the Steel Helmet] series. The series is a bit Boys' Own style but that was the style of the time. Some interesting German perspectives on the first of the major German 1918 offensives.

Sounds interesting but unfortunately my German is beyond rusty - after decades just not up to reading full novels anymore, hard enough following dialogue in movies ~
