Inserts for 30mm new style bases?
« on: 13 August 2009, 05:47:10 PM »
As the new(ish) 30mm round bases with sunk centre and rounder edges become more and more popular, I was wondering who makes inserts that go on top of that sunk bit (if you know what I mean?) I think at least Wyrd makes them, but who else? I could swear I have seen some?

I am not too keen on this type of base, and prefer the regular round one, as a rule. But I might use the new type, if there was reasonable inserts for them.

Thanks, people! Do the Dragonforge ones come with the baase, or are they just the insert? I got loads of bases, so I wouldn't really need more, just the inserts. ;)

EDIT: I contacted DF, and was told that actually the bases are in one piece, so no separate inserts.  :'(

Ian of Fenris Games sent me a couple of example inserts with my last base order. They're very good. I've also bought wooden plank inserts from Black Cat bases, so they definately do those at least.

Fenris, Dragonforge, Armorcast, and Back2Basics all do very nice ones...

Fenris has the type you place on top of the plastic round 30mm base, solid resin ones, and a nice round lipped
30mm deep welled base for those figures that have thick cast on bases you wish to cover up.  Very nice!
