[Galactic Heroes] typos and questions
« on: 15 December 2019, 04:01:50 PM »
I think I've found a couple of typos on Galactic Heroes rulebook.
Nothing to severe, but since PDF publishing allows for it, maybe the author would want to address these.

page 10: Auto Pistol and Auto Rifle look the same. On page 38 it is stated that Auto Rifle can Burst fire.
Maybe it would be better to add Burst on page 10, too?

page 27: The trait "Fearless" states "You ignore Fearful Presence above". The trait above is "Fearsome Presence".

Yea, I've seen some too, on the weapons chart also.

Seems to me the SMG should be reversed with the Auto-Rifle, and the Auto Pistol and SMG should have the same ranges - e.g. 6" and 12", or perhaps 9" and 18" (8" and 16") for the SMG.

I think the Auto-Rifle should have a 12" and 24" range, bringing it in line with the other "rifles" for the rules.  Perhaps a shorter range for it, and a "burst" option for it too, if auto-firing (like the SMG).

6" and 12" for the Auto-Rifle is far too short a range.

Hadn't caught the "Fearless" vs. "Fearsome" trait issue.

Thanks for noting that, too.

Any ideas on ratings for Dewbacks, Banthas, and Rhontos for these rules?

Thought there was a "creatures" section, but there isn't really much info there.

From the little blurbs on-line I've found the following about Dewbacks (for my Sandtroopers):

- can move surprisingly quickly (sprinting for short distances) when electrically prodded by a rider
- have decent endurance too (flies in the face of the above)
- thick hide is resistant to blaster fire
- has claws
- hunts during the day  and sleeps at night (slow at night due to the cold weather)
- has a large mouth, and given that Tatooine isn't really the greatest place for growing plant-life, presumably they are carnivorous
- they're about 6' tall, so rather imposing in size vs. humans and similar sized aliens

Need to work out some stats for them in "melee" with humans and other creatures.  Seems to me with their bulky size, tail, heavy legs/claws, and large mouth, they would be quite imposing vs. anyone close to them.

Yes there are some typos. It's just me. Writer, Editor, Designer, etc...
When in doubt, follow the weapon descriptions starting on page 38 which confirm that Auto Rifle is 12/24' with Burst.
Mako, are you treating them as mounts? If so you can see the Mount rules in the Vehicle Manual. Or they can just be created with traits as normal.
Of the top of my head:
Banthas: Large (only moves 6" but can carry 4 crew), Armored
Dewbacks: Armored, Ferocious
Rhonto: Large (have to make a special rule for them being so skittish).

Enjoying your rules, even with the minor issues.

Yes, probably as mounts, but also separate creatures too.

Thanks for the suggestions for them.

I need to work out stats for damage from the Dewback's tail, feet (crush), claws (slash), and jaws (cut, crush, or swallow almost if not completely whole?).   Might be fun to add a little color if some opponents are bitten in half, before being swallowed, as opposed to just gulped down whole.  Need trampling rules too, no doubt, vs. opponents, since I even read somewhere that they can be used to knock down, and/or enter dwellings.

There’s already rules for bashing down things. Just assign a strength and wounds of walks.
