I am possibly missing something, but I would not be able to get my fingers into the tiny gap between the sabot opening and the edge of the base, in order to to pick up the oxen by the base. But that is probably just me.  :)

Unfortunately you must not be getting it! my figures are varnished, so take them out of the sabot by holding onto the figures!!!!!!
If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

Yes, I understand that you pick them up by the figures - see my previous post, It is just my strong personal preference to lift by the base rather than the figure, even though they are varnished. Thank you for the clarification, and for the nifty idea.
