Duo Testudo

Comrades,

For those interested, please find the attached link to my latest blog posting - my second attempt at a Caesarian testudo. https://unluckygeneral.blogspot.com/2020/09/duo-testudo-caesarian-romans.html

That's very nice. I have an EIR Testudo one (Warlord Games IIRC?), need to see how it fits in a game.
Cheers,

That looks excellent! I have some of the same Romans that I’m unlikely to use - doing something similar would give them a purpose. How did you do the inside of the testudo? Are there painted figs inside?

Thanks all for the kind remarks and I'm glad you like it. I'm not the biggest fan of the old Wargames Factory figures but they are ideal for this purpose. In fact, I don't think I could have done them otherwise.

Pattus Magnus,

Here's the link to an earlier post on my blog about how I did it. Fellow contributor to this forum Tyrian Halfman started the whole idea and I adapted it. https://unluckygeneral.blogspot.com/2019/03/caesarean-testudo-part-2.html

Thanks very much everyone.

Part of me wishes there was a model available for the Caesarian testudo. This is fiddly and slightly time consuming for what represents an optional formation. I suppose I could easily have made a marker just saying a cohort formed testudo.

On the other hand part of me likes having something individual and I do find myself making more conversions these days.

Wow I thought I'd already commented on this, but this is amazing. Thanks for the walkthrough on how you put it all together! I don't do Romans (yet :D Never say never, right?), but it's awesome to see!
