All at Sea - HMS Bellerophon
« on: 23 September 2020, 07:58:53 AM »
Commencing a series of posts featuring the Third Rates of Renown, the first model to join the collection is HMS Bellerophon, perhaps after HMS Victory the most famous of Royal Navy ships of this period.

With a battle record second to none including three fleet actions, the history of the ship makes her a worthy inclusion.

A beauty.

They really are superb. I had a mate back in the late 1980s who had a superb collection of the GHQ range and I didn't think those could be beat but this has made me change my mind.

Thanks for your comments chaps, much appreciated.

These 1:700th kits are full of detail and a feast for the eye which I think will be enhanced when seen en-mass on the table.

I have seen comments from others discounting the scale as impractical for larger games and there is no doubt that for the really big games large tables will be required, but I look at these models in the same way as considering 28mm Napoleonic miniatures, namely the visual impact of the models themselves make it worthwhile to find a big enough space and the time to play games with them.

Once all this pandemic nonsense is under control I hope to illustrate the point, but in the meantime its fun just putting the models together and creating the necessary fleets.

Cheers
JJ
