The use of radios in Vietnam
« on: 10 March 2022, 06:30:13 AM »
so I have a set of the new Rubicon US Marines. There is a PRC 25 Radio included and I am thinking of doing some greenstuff copies ( for strictly personal use, of course!) to equip my Marine platoons with them. So now my question.
As far as I know there was one radio per platoon. What about smaller sized patrols? Lets say a squad and some PFs would they have any kind of radio to call in support or Medivac?

I suspect the tin tanks did what we did. Recce patrols, standing patrols and the like would get a radio when operating remote from the platoon as would some OPs.

Remember that companies usually had attached FOs who would have their own signaller and radio and in the case of USMC that might include an ANGLICO team with the forward companies so more radios.
