Help Wanted; Identify This Figure Please!

Hi folks, registering for a few boards because I finally am getting around to trying to answer a question I've always wondered about; what and where from was a figure I was gifted decades ago?

He looks today as below;



Some context. I was given him around 1993, and he'd been sitting in an office window for an unknown number of years before that. We lived and worked near Nottingham so there was alot of early Citadel/Games Workshop stuff floating about, but the person who gave it me did not know what his provenance was. He just called it "Sentry Soldier". My own research has got me close, I believe he's Citadel because he shares the same helmet, beady eyes, and chain mail face mask as "Red Dulmoon" from the Speciality Set 3 v2 from 1984. But I can't find a model which has the same pose and shield as above. He's definitely made of metal, and showed signs of rusting even in 1993, but I'm unsure if that's from the metal itself, or from being around in poor environments where he's picked it up from other metals.

He's also a variant of Morthog Doomaxe, one of the v2 Warriors of Chaos boxed set:

Ahah, thank you! What didn't help the search was that the sword has always been missing, which changed the profile considerably; but looking closely at the model, I can see a small nub where it's obviously been snapped off.  I wonder why someone tried painting him orange, and why it had all worn off again by the time I got him? Interesting how the mind's eye works though, because he'd been called "Sentry Soldier" by the prior owner, I always just assumed he was a normal knight, it was only when I started looking really closely I realised he was meant to be evil... and now thanks to you chaps, I know the larger truth! Thanks again!
