Some trashy sci-fi scenery

Howdy!

I made some terrain pieces from items salvaged from the recycling bin. They were easy to complete: I just added some more junk as greeblies, sprayed each piece the base color, gave them a heavy silver drybrush, then washed them with black:

The red one looks like water bottles and the one to the right of it looks like an insert for a mobile phone box ? The yellow one beats me.

They look great! Those inserts dont have a very recognizable form, so a few bits are enough to sell it as something else.

From left to right, the pieces I used were: tray from a box of Girl Scout cookies, plastic blister from a pack of AA batteries, and plastic blister from an electric toothbrush.

I miss the days of scratch built terrain. I feel it was easier to do this when there were far fewer models available. Well, at least I was buying less in the 80s and 90s. I had time to work on terrain. Now, with the high rate that models are flying into the collection, it takes all I've got to keep that pile manageable...I have little time for scratch building terrain.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.  Helped when I was working for a resin casting company and could justify crazy trashbashes as working on a new master.

I like scratchbuilding terrain this way because it plays to my strengths: I'm cheap and lazy! Materials are free, and painting is quick and easy. And it does allow for some creativity
