Hey all,
A friend and I ran the first three games of our Kampfgruppe Von Luck campaign recently. Played in 1/100 with a mix of Flames of War and Plastic Soldier Company. The terrain was made by the two of us - some of it is foam detailed with foil and pen, a big mix of trees, and a mix of resin buildings but many from Tiger Terrain. Roads are a mix of sandpaper roads that are flocked and painted and silicone roads made from scratch.
British Paratroopers vs LMG platoon of death aka Panzergrenadier Platoon. Played with Chain of Command rules, the Kampfgruppe Von Luck Pint Sized Campaign, and At The Sharp End campaign rules. All from the excellent Too Fat Lardies.
Game 1 - Scenario One: Patrol on the Ring CountourThis is a tough one for the British. Your paratroopers are arriving piecemeal and it's a wide open wheat field. The Germans were able to deploy quickly and set up a base of fire. The small amount of cover meant it wasn't smart to hang around for long so the British pulled out. The brits were able to twice wound the same junior leader but couldn't finish the job and decided to retreat. Game one goes to the Germans.
Game 2 - Scenario 2: Probe Among the HedgerowsHaving cleared the ring contour the Germans are now pushing the British forward positions outside of Le Bas de Ranville. A large sunken lane dominates the board. This game was really going the Brit's way for the majority. At one point they'd only taken 2 casualties to the German's 13. But then a double turn tipped it all the way back. Those LMGs can make a big difference quickly. The German's won game two as the Brit's voluntarily withdraw. The casualties definitely hurt the resource-constrained Brits more.
Game 3 - Scenario 3: Attacking the Corridor of DeathThe Germans are now pushing into Le Bas de Ranville. We actually paused this game mid-way through. So more to come. So far it's got the typical "ok, we remember how to play Chain of Command again" third game back to the rules that we see each time we do a campaign weekend. Lots of small firefights as we jockey for board position during deployment. The brits DID perform a pretty valiant counter attack along the hedges outside of town - routing and wiping out an enemy team in close quarters. So as it stands the Brits are way up in Force Morale this time so far.

Back at it in a few more weeks!
Cheers!
