2010 French Foreign Legion Parachute Platoon
« on: 20 February 2022, 02:19:11 PM »
Hi All
I'm going to start a 28mm French Foreign Legion parachute platoon using the excellent Eurela miniatures circa 2010 era and was wondering should I go all beret or helmet or mix of both. I would have thought that a mix was favourable but I welcome everyone thoughts
I fancy adding a machine gun team but it doesn't appear eureka make one any idea for conversions

Thanks all in advance
Steve

They do make a set of 3 chaps with Minimi's.  Not really MGs, thus a bit dodgy, but a dedicated Minimi team might work..

And I like the idea about mixing helmets and berets.  It'd add a just a bit of color to the boys...

A mix would look good for painting and on the table, but it wouldn't be really realistic. I've only worked with the French a couple of times, but they operated in the same way as us (British) and the Canadians, Americans etc. If helmets were required everyone wore them, if not they all wore berets.

I think I'm going to mix for a visual effect perhaps a small mix of berets

It'll look good, who are you fighting with them?

Oh yeah - I would think VABs for le Légion étrangère in Africa, fictional state or otherwise, would be entirely appropriate...

Hi,
Since 2010, France has changed their AANF1 machinegun ,by the Belgian MAG58 ( named M240 in the USA ).
You can use the Eureka USMC MG team walking  https://www.eurekamin.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=87_126_150_846&products_id=12348 or USMC MG team firing  https://www.eurekamin.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=87_126_150_846&products_id=12347

The team number 2 is not usable for this time frame.

Sorry to be late to the conversation, but you can get a machine gun here with different head variants  if you're ok with 3D Prints.  The figures are reasonably close in size to Eureka, though a little bulkier.
