Looking for a German word

I'm starting work on a set of Weird WWII rules and was curious if anyone here knew of a better German word for occult than "geheimnisvoller".

"secret full" doesn't seem to do it for me. And it just seems too close to Geheimskrieg which I want to avoid using.

"okkult" might be the word you are looking for   "übersinnlich" might fit as well.

Or try using a variation of "mysteriös" (mysterious).

"Mysterium/Mysterien" ~ "mystery/mysteries", with a religious tone.

For example, "Krieg der Mysterien".

But Okkult, imho, is even better, because it sounds "harder".

Other variations on the occult theme:

Okkultismus (occultism), Mythologie, Mystizismus (mysticism), Geheimbund (secret league/association/covenant).

'rätselhaft' might be another possibility. This one is more on a rational level, the direct translation would be 'cryptic'.

"Okkultbund" might pass, although it would be rather singular (ie, not used in a generic way, but only for one specific organisation).

More generic variants would be "Okkultismusverein" or "Okkultenvereinigung".

Both Okkultkrieg and Okkultbund sound a bit odd to me, as does the use of "okkult" in a compound word in general.

It might be easier to supply a word if you could tell us what you need it for. Like, are you looking for the name of an organization, a name for your rules, a title for a person?

I want a general term to differentiate the "geheimkrieg" the small-scale "secret" occult war from the large scale conflict involving occult forces and mecha that erupts after it

In the timeline for the game there is a small underground conflict between occult organizations in Europe as part of WWII and then once the Germans start losing in the East and West they rapidly expand their occult forces into huge armies of the undead and the once "secret" war becomes the main focus of conflict.

So I need a term to differentiate that new large-scale battle from the previous smaller, clandestine conflict

"Das okkulte Ringen" ("The occult struggle")
"Der okkulte Kampf" ("The occult fight")
"Der verborgene Kampf" ("The hidden/concealed fight")

"Der okkulte Krieg" sounds good to me. I don't think this is limited to small scale, undercover actions.
