Thank you Mirjeki.

Herewith, most recent Battle Masters progress. Finally made a start on the Evil Barbarian Human Chaos Archers. One certainly does not see many of these miniatures they seem to be less popular than other miniatures in the box. I must say I was not originally that keen on them but I am growing more fond of them as I make progress on them.

I cut and sanded away the rather numerous and very pronounced join lines and added quivers - the quivers are from Mantic's Naiad miniatures which I had spare. I have decided to keep the mohawks afterall. I picture these bowmen not necessarily having the greatest range but given the power of their muscles, large bows and big arrow heads having good penetration and stopping power.

Hope mine come out as well as this chaps see: http://paintingagency.blogspot.com/2005/04/chaos-archer.html

The Naiad's themselves I am in the process of adding fish tails, turning them into merfolk to be even more aquatic in appearance. Will be working on making an under sea skirmish game of some sort maybe converting rules from Deep Wars, see: https://antimatter-games.com/deepwars/ and https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/121626/deepwars but that is another topic entirely.

As I only have 9 of these they should prove quick to do. It is a real pity as the original set had 10, worse is that for most units I have more than came in the original box. See: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/700/battle-masters

I love this post! These old school GW models bring back so many great memories of simpler times. I echo the other comments on this thread about the cool paint job. The colors and paint style really scream old fashion fantasy in the best possible way. Also, the time you spent on freehand shields and printed banners is commendable, and the work really paid off as these features truly elevate the minis. Can't wait to see what you do with the Chaos archers.

Thank you Operon for your kind words.

Herewith, initial paint job - some detailing still to be added - but main colours done. Will get them all to this stage and then basing will also need to happen.

Herewith, the start of the BattleMaster human Men-at-arms and artillery. I have since taking these pictures completed them together with the crossbowmen and will be updating soon. I am also using these to bulk out my War of the Roses Perry armies.

It's lovely to see this old game getting such a comprehensive colouring-in! I think that not only did many youngsters get into wargaming via BM, but that the models from it were in fact used by many as the starter core of a WHFB army later.

I particularly like the heraldry you've done, the halberdiers especially. Really good job.  8)

Thank you Major Gilbear. Agreed this set has a certain charm, especially for younger audiences it's just overflowing with toy loveliness and must have been the gateway for many to get into the world of GW gaming and then hopefully other wargaming as well...

Herewith, an update on my BattleMasters project which is now nearing completion.

Thought it would be nice to get all the miniatures out and assess what still needs to be done. I have recently added more human "good" knights, "evil" infantry knights and based the human "good" men-at-arms. I have also added an additional orc/goblin unit to bulk out the "evil" army a bit more but these are not original BattleMasters but are typical GW of the period.

Also completed the crossbowmen.

Each of the men-at-arms units has a knight with matching heraldry.

This one still needs a lance to which I will be adding a banner.

Thought, given the number of pictures, I would just break it down a tad.

The king here is not BattleMasters either, indeed he is a Schliech smaller version of their big toys.

Awesome stuff that takes me back. I started out with HQ and then BM, but it is the latter that bridged the gap with WFB. :-*

Cheers Bloggard, Little Odo and White Knight - happy to help bring back fond memories.

Herewith, the artillery crews are now completed with bases done. Note that on the original models the bottom of the guns is missing and the front is solid so drilled out the front and built up the bottoms so that on closer inspection they look like more convincing canons.

Great seeing this stuff painted up.  It was such a great "starter" box for so many reasons.
