WIP: Battle System's "Fantasy Village Set" : Painting the Edges
« on: 14 September 2022, 04:21:01 PM »
Battle System's Maladum dungeoncrawl KS starts in October, so I thought I'd help them out with some pics of their "Fantasy Village Set", available retail (and reprint in October).  I'm painting the bare cardboard edges with just craft paints to match the printed artwork. Yes, that includes matching the pillow stains. :D

Miniatures are by Sally 4th.
Game board is Ravenkeep's Terra Tiles. Pre-order up : https://ravenkeep.net/

Looks very good. With these kind of things I always feel it would be worth picking up 2 sets, to cut out all the timberwork, stones and other elements to glue on and add some further 3D elements to them, but I assume with these sets the plastic clip system would prevent that.

I agree, colouring the exposed edges is pretty much obligatory with any card scenery. Simple task that brings huge benefit.

....... cut out all the timberwork, stones and other elements to glue on and add some further 3D elements to them

Adding to the 3D look is a good idea, I used balsa wood and matchsticks on my old GW building sets. Not so easy on the roof through. Invariably end up remaking those from scratch. Not too much work on the GW ones but some of the bigger Battle System pieces would be a huge task to retile.
