My First 10mm WSS Brigade Finished
« on: March 07, 2023, 12:15:02 AM »
Now that I've discovered the joy's of painting 10mm I've finished my first brigade for the War of Spanish Succession. I'm doing French to start with and this lot is Montmorency's Brigade as they were at Blenheim. I love how these little battalions look and you'll notice that I've given them oversized flags for the sake of adding more colour.

The figures are Pendraken with a mounted officer from VanDyck miniatures. There are more pics and some more details on my blog at the link below.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Those are superb!  :-*

And the over sized flags do indeed make the units pop!

Well done!

Thanks for the positive feedback folks (there have been some replies on my blog too). This is a new project and I'm not too sure where it's going to lead me. I have the intention of painting both a French/Bavarian army an Allied force to oppose them based on Blenheim. Maybe one day I'll aim to do the actual battle but that will be somewhere into the far future.

Blenheim with units like this will look spectacular - but it’s certainly an awful lot of troops to collect and paint - especially if you are doing both sides. Perhaps pick a sector of the battle to start with, and build up those units?

We are hoping to refight Blenheim at the end of the year, 15mm Lancer miniatures figures. An awful lot to paint but at least not as difficult as Napoleonic's. They look very nice and yes the flag idea works really well, all the best with your project.

Very nice indeed. I've some Van Dyck figures on order myself, as just like you I love the look of units at this small scale.

That last photo is scary though, really shows how small the 10/12mm figures are. Great comparison !

That's the long range goal. Maybe a few years down the track.

It'll be much easier if you're working as a team. I'm trying to convince some friends to come along for the ride.

The size is a bit scary to start with but it's the detail on the Van Dyck that I'm trying to come to terms with. They are phenomenal.
