What rules? Nice figures.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

So these are all Perry miniatures from their War of the Triple Alliance line.  These are specifically listed as Argentine….but their uniforms are French.  I am sure their are some inaccuracies in there but for me (a war gamer) they are good enough.

I am also using their ACW Zouaves as French but those guys don’t have paint yet.

With the advent of the Perry Franco Prussian war we also have period artillery and cavalry…although the advance to rifles on the chasseurs makes it a little off.

The biggest gap for the French are the marin infantry … their naval infantry that accompanied the initial expedition to Puebla.  There are no real compatible proxies that I like in in the 28mm scale currently.

The OOB is being developed for a Commands and Colors variant based on Battle Cry.  Hardest issue to work through are the proxies for the 2 forts…they each have a very peculiar design and right now I am just using some walls/adobe forts as we gear up to play test.

Id no idea the Argentine/Grand Alliance range was quite so versatile. Gringo's range is nice though incomplete and large in size. And the older Foundry range small and also incomplete.

Please keep posting...very interested in what you're doing.

Really nice!

Had I continued with my Mexican Adventure project (just sold the whole lot), I would have used the Perry Triple Alliance figures as proxies, too; might have needed a bit of sorting through packs, but there were a lot of options amongst them for Republican infantry especially, which is not well served in 28mm.

The Franco-Prussian range definitely a great bonus to forces.

Foundry have a decent sized range but obviously compared to some newer ranges like Gringo they look like a cadet force scale-wise. It's a shame Gringo40s never really expanded the range as they were lovely figures, but never complete enough to put together full forces, again particularly on the Republican side.

There is definitely not a 28mm unified range anywhere currently.  The older Foundry range with Aly Morrison sculpts are not compatible with the larger sized figures from my view.

That said, I love the Mexican Infantry from the Foundry Old West line.  These go along with the FFL as opposition and have a lot of variants.  These are the ones I am using as the bulk of my Mexican infantry.

Mexican cavalry is a bit of a problem in 28mm as well.  Gringo 40s only size well inside of that range and Foundry has none.  There are other proxies of course and those will likely be used.  I am not much of a green stuff guy so making a bunch of conversions is not something I will likely do…unless it is caveman easy. :)

Mexican infantry along with some militia.  These guys are based differently as the militia serve double duty in the Spanish Main as ….Panamanian peons defending against Captain Morgan’s raids.  I like to use the Rampant series for skirmishes as well so the peon basing goes with that.

Some of the Mexican infantry were sitting in a shame pile for nearly a decade.  As this was before contrast paints, army painter and all that I was using the old Foundry layer approach.  Which is nice but it took me forever to paint enough for a unit.  Now with contrast paints, and crappier eyesight my standards have dropped to more of a production line approach. :D
