VBCW Suffragette Regular Army
« on: June 02, 2024, 08:57:38 PM »
Hi!, Just started my collection for VBCW.
The setting is Walkden, Lancashire.
The protagonists are the Primrose League with units from the Mill Workers' Militia and the Suffragette Regular army.
These are pictures of the latter. I've kept to the suffragette colours of green, white and purple for this august body of women. I just wish there were more poses.

I believe Empress has a few more in their SCW line. Badsquido games have some that might fit the bill as well.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Suffragettes who clearly missed the memo about universal suffrage being granted in 1918. lol

Of course the Primrose League never got the message. You'll need to dress them in tweed, with strings of pearls to clutch and big blue rosettes. ;)

Ah! But fascist forces, and others, might have been tempted to reverse this. Hence, the hidden training of the suffragettes just in case. And now it's proved they were right to organise!

In 1918, only women over 30 who were property owners or University graduates got the vote. It was equalised to anyone over 21 (except peers, imprisoned felons and "lunatics") in 1928. Perhaps the 1928 Act didn't happen in this world? Or maybe these are angry teenagers who want to voting age lowered?
Back from the dead, almost.

It passed easily it seems. But reactionary forces can always surface in times of political upheaval, such as in a civil war.

Not to mention progressive forces who sometimes get carried away and do all sorts of weird things. I think these women will fit in well and do themselves proud. I’m tempted to get some myself but I’m not sure if they’d join my Socialist Alliance of the Borsetshire Volunteers.

They make a lovely unit. They could fill in for either, obviously.  These are Empress Miniatures SCW female militia.
I have the Footsore Miniatures Workers Militia and Women's Institute to complete painting and some Ironclad Miniatures miners on the way.
Of course, I will need more militia for both sides.
I'm lucky I got two Leyland 3 ton lorry's by Matchbox, Models of Yesteryear and a van by Oxford Diecast Models.
I'm pleased how well things are progressing.
