Empires at War MDF buildings advice please

Sorry for posting with another request for advice.  As shipping times and costs to New Zealand are issues I try to make sure I know what I am getting before I order.

I am thinking about getting the Italian town set from Empires at War.  These are MDF, and while not the ideal for what I want, they do look like they will do the job.
They come in unpainted and prepainted versions.

Has anyone bought these?  If so, are the pre-painted buildings worth the extra money?  It is not a lot more, which makes me wonder whether the paint job is particularly poor.  I suspect the pictures on their web site have custom paint jobs (there appears to be some texture on the buildings), rather than what I would actually get.

I was happy with the paint job.  It has a bit of texturing and they go to the extra trouble to paint the joints.  At some point I might add a bit to the paint jobs to spice them up a bit.
