Operation Ironclad, Chain of Command - Devon Wargames Group

One of the games played at this month's meeting of the Devon Wargames Group included this Chain of Command rendition of the fighting that characterised the capture of the port city of Antsirane in Madagascar from Vichy French troops by the British invasion forces, 7th May 1942.

Fantastic vehicles and figures! What paint did you use? What matt?

After a bit of investigating with the chaps involved in this game, one the owner of the collection and the other, the chap that painted them, I can now report back on the answer received to your question;

'From memory it was Vallejo Iraqi sand and desert yellow, with dry brushing, and Windsor and Newton galleria Matt varnish...'

Excellent! Thank you! I must try the Windsor and Newton Galleria Matt varnish! I've used Vallejo paints and they are excellent, but I think it's the varnish that really makes the figures and vehicles look real! It really depresses me to see beautifully painted miniature shine with a glossy or satiny look that detracts from realism.

Interesting battle report.  It's always interesting when a game based on a historical scenario more or less follows the historical results.
