May 40 miniatures - Fallschirmjager
« on: December 23, 2023, 12:35:01 PM »

Does anyone own these? I'm curious to see how they compare in size to other brands.

I have a squad, realistic proportions, thinner and taller than other brands and possibly true 1/56.

Not painted mine yet as I wanted to add some more for my 1940 collection

Cheers
Matt

I've got some. My existing Artizan ones are much more chunky and a tad shorter. The biggest difference is in the weapons; Artizan's are again thicker and shorter.

I would not put them in the same squad, but they could work on the same table...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

The picture comparison really helped. They look compatible with Warlord plastics. Weapons compatibility seems to be a big factor in mixing varying ranges in the same squad.

I had never even heard of Heer46, I checked the the website and it doesn't seem the are available anymore.

Tom, if you are US based you might find the Gorgon Studios Fallschirmjager an attractive option, postage wise. Same sculptor as Artizan. Their FJ are in correct 1940 kit with the soft gas mask bag vice the metal canister.

I have their Norwegians and they mix well with most other ranges, especially Artizan and Crusader. Had they been available at the time I probably would have bought them over the Crusader versions I own, although those are very nice figures that basically paint themselves.

Carlos, I was looking into the Gorgon studios but was disappointed in the sculpts ( and this goes for a great many different lines out there ) with regards to how few of them are actually firing their weapons. The May 40 seem to have a nice assortment of action poses, static poses and soldiers firing their weapons.

The Crusader packs have a good mix of firing and moving. I have a platoon + worth of them and they are very nice figures. I have pondered snipping off the gas mask canisters and replacing with greenstuff versions but frankly I can't be bothered. They mix well with most things and you can mix in the old Wargames Foundry FJ if you want pistol armed assistant MG gunners.

I agree that the May '40 FJ look very nice indeed and there's quite a bit of chrome to the range like the FJ carrying captured Dutch rifles.

@Tom Dulski, I do have a fair few of the May'40 FJs (unpainted) and they‘re rather nice indeed. However I‘ve switched to 20mm, so if you’re interested they could be yours for the price of postage. Just drop me a PM.
