AWI Holiday Sharp Practice game
« on: 21 December 2023, 10:15:49 PM »
The Mohawk valley in 1780 was the setting for our 2023 Holiday game. I wanted to get back to a snowy scenario for this year's game. The idea was a rescue attempt by Rangers and natives of the Crown's Indian Department of a family of a prominent chief. 1 player would control this force. Another would have some Kings Royal Regt troops. The Rebels started with a local militia unit on the table searching for the 'escaped' family and the last player was coming on with a unit of New York line. All players had a different points schedule and were not necessarily there to support their allies. As usual we had a quizz beteen phases with the correct guesses getting a Command Chip (this adds to a force's tactical ability) and plenty of tasty treats available.

Great looking table and fun scenario.   We play Mohawk Valley AWI games using Muskets & Tomahawks.
Your table gets the upstate "look" right.  Fieldstone houses and a big Dutch barn!

That game looks great!  And the guy in the t-shirt should have gotten MVP (Man of the Match for some of you...) :D.

That's a great scenario, with pictures that really do capture the atmosphere of the action  :-*

It brought to mind "The Burning of The Valleys - Daring Raids From Canada Against The New York Frontier in The Fall of 1780" by Gavin K. Watt, which I readand very much enjoyed a couple of years ago.

The Watt books are good material for NY AWI scenarios   Highly recommend all of them.
Cheers,
