Lots of figures available in 28mm, Perry plastics are great value.

For skirmish rules I use Brother against Brother, for regimental I use Pickets Charge and Jonny Reb III for a grittier game.

Cheers
Matt

Yeah I've been having a look at the Perry stuff and it definitely seems to be one of the better value for money company's out there.

How many miniatures would count for a skirmish per side?

So I've decided to go for warlord's pike and shotte ruleset with the ace solely on familiarity. Next pay check I'll be ordering the Perry acw starter set. Very excited to give it a go and looking forward to building the minis. Something different!

Sorry I'm late to this party....

Glory Hallelujah is Warlord's ACW supplement for their Black Powder rules (which is kinda what Pike & Shotte is based on).  Given that you're gonna go with Pike & Shotte, I'd suggest just doing Black Powder, which is essentially the "Horse & Musket" version of that rules stable (Hail Caesar, Pike & Shotte, and Black Powder

Glory Hallelujah is not required to play ACW with Black Powder. but it doesn't hurt to have.  If nothing else, it has scenarios in it...

Apologies I got totally mixed up. So it is black powder (2nd edition) I've ordered. Not pike and shotte  lol just got mixed up.

In my opinion Black Powder is a very simple system that works great for creating smooth gameplay specifically for the Napoleonic period but breaks down a bit for later periods. That's not to say it won't work for ACW, but you will be more limited in which rules/units you can use than you would for Napoleonics (not to mention the uniforms won't nearly be as colorful lol). I would certainly avoid Glory Hallelujah, however, as the special rules are sparse, the army lists lack creativity/variety, and the scenarios are made for massive tables/armies. You would be much better suited imo choosing a specific battle and planning out how you'd refight it.

I'll give them a go and see how I start out. I've not played any ACW so there's always room to buy more books and supplements. Need to get miniatures next!
