Thanks for showing those great pictures and the effort of detailed narration, Cat! It really gives an impression of what you did achieve - big fun for everybody and happy faces all around. 20% of NYC's vehicle population seem to be made by Volkswagen...

4 VW out of 34: Beetle, Squareback, Dual Cab Pickup, and Thing.
AMC fully represented with Gremlin, Matador, and Pacer.
I think Chevy wins at ~10 cars.
A Datsun 510 is the Japanese import.
 
Quite fun EBay hunting to get a good representation for the period, with a fair number of older models in this neighborhood.
