Is Keep Wargaming in business?
« on: 31 October 2024, 02:40:32 PM »
I was interested in getting some Naismith Design figures.
I was directed to Keep Wargaming
https://www.keepwargaming.co.uk/naismith-15mm-historical-figures-314-c.asp

At the to of the page, it says that " As many of you know, Paul had a stroke earlier this year. He is now home, although still very weak. I feel that we are now in a position to accept orders via the shopping cart, but there may still be some delays."

There is no date on it.  I sent an email, but never got a reply.

Any information about this?

I'm looking for smaller 15mm Napoleonic British to match the Heritage I already have [that are not OOP] and Essex, Naismith and perhaps Falcon seem to the closest in size.

Thanks!
"The U.S. Army's mission is to fight and win the nation's wars,
and its vision is to be a global force that fights at the scale required."

Sir, I respectfully suggest 1/56 & 1/100 as the best scales in which to fight...!

They are in business! I sourced a vintage DBA 2.0 copy from them not that long ago. Send them an email, they’re great to deal with and very fair.

Tried another email, and this time got a quick reply.

Unfortunately, they are running low on the 15mm Naismith British it seems.

The Navwar shop in Ilford used to stock all of the Naismith figures. Been over twenty years since I visited mind you! They don’t have much of an online presence but it might be worth a call. http://www.navwar.co.uk/nav/default.asp

Spirit Games have limited codes listed, whether they are still in stock I don't know. (You'll need the codes though, if you are struggling I've got the original Navwar catalogue listings).  Probably need to contact them direct to find out exactly what they have (on the plus side, they do list them at 75p or £1.10 a pack!) https://www.spiritgames.co.uk/disp.php/5/12/11851/Naismith

Navwar will be a dead end, unless a few packs fell down behind a cupboard - remaining stock was sold off with the moulds to Naismith-Roundway.

Alas, Naismith-Roundway has gone. I fear the moulds may never resurface. Am I correct in thinking that the 'new' owner has passed away?

Realistically, unless you just want a handful of packs you are probably going to be unlucky. eBay may well be your best source for a big batch of packs.

Elsewhere, other ranges often described as true 15mm:

Cavalry - Minifigs are a near perfect match with both Naismith and Heritage Napoleonics. I've got several hundred Heritage Napoleonettes, and a few thousand Naismith. There's quite a few Minifigs cavalry in the mix too. Minifigs foot are a little bit bigger than both Heritage and Naismith (at least a shako taller).

Essex are a whole head (& hat) taller.

Warrior have temporarily gone, but they have been unavailable for quite a few years now.

Magister Militum are an okay fit, slightly taller than Heritage and Naismith. Quite slight of body. Magister Militum are up for sale and not casting, just selling off remaining stock.

Minifigs foot are probably your closest best fit, that are still available - same army, but not the same base.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Update: Keep Wargaming are very much still in business (just placed an order, and had an email chat)

Wow, Keep Wargaming.  Now there's  a name from the past. I recall they they were stalwarts on the show circuit in the 1980s and '90s, plus I would often stop at their shop en route to my in-laws in deepest, darkest Devon. I'm surprised that they are still going as the owners were a good few years older than me and I'm now retired! The mention of Navwar also brings back memories of trips down to their shop in I think Ilford, as they stocked the Skytrex "Action 200" range. Its a shame that so many of these companies are going but I guess that's life.

Navwar is in Seven Kings, just around the corner from Jake’s Burger Bar and the Cauliflower Pub, staples of th ‘90s. Happy days…

Anyone else remember the New Years Day sale that Paul and Teresa used to run at the shop in Devizes? This is of course back in the 80s and 90s!
