1809 Campaign along the Danube - Sharp Practice and Valour & Fortitude

Hello all,

I have been painting Napoleonics for a while now, but I don't think I have posted any here before. With this topic, I hope to document my growing armies for the 1809 campaign along the Danube, focussing on the opening stages of the war in Bavaria. I have a force for each side finished for Sharp Practice, photos of which I will post at some point, but I am also in the process of building up armies for battalion-scale rules like Valour & Fortitude. With these, my aim is to focus on the core of the action at Eggm?hl between Rosenberg's IV Coprs and the Allied army under Napoleon.

To start with, the Austrian Reuss-Greitz regiment (Nr. 55). This unit was part of Rosenberg's IV Corps and fought in the frontline at Eggm?hl. The miniatures are Perry plastic, except for the skirmishing screen composed of the gorgeous metal Piano Wargames figures.









The battalions are composed of 32 men on 4 60x60 mm bases.


For the other side, I have painted a unit of metal Piano Wargames W?rttemberg Chevaul?gers, also present at Eggm?hl, which charged the Austrian line on the ridge after the bridge was taken by the W?rttemberg Light Brigade.







The unit is composed of 12 miniatures on 4 60x60 mm bases. I have to say that while heavy and a bit fiddly to put together at times, the Piano Wargames miniatures really are wonderful. The poses are dynamic and full of life and the detail is crisp without being chunky. Compared to the Perry metals, the casting is also a lot cleaner and there is much less prep work to get these ready to paint.
