15 mm field gates - wooden (mostly)???
« on: 12 March 2025, 12:26:59 AM »
Looking for who makes gates only (without a fence) in 15 mm.  Need some 'extra' gates to help build a variety of enclosures.  Can be 3D, old style resin, or metal.  I know Irregular has something as does Essex.  What else is out there?  Would be great if in USA but not necessary.  Mostly looking for wooden gates, can be person wide or wagon wide or both.  Must be suitable for pre-1900 and even pre-1800.

Thanks!

PS: Yes, of course I know, easy to make but I need a bunch (a dozen or more) and I need them sooner than later.

Given the scale creep of most figures, and given they will be stuck on a base that will lift them even more, then have you considered using HO scale model railway gates?
That may make them easier to source.

How does HO scale train stuff scale with your 15mm?

HO is unlikely to match well, HO fencing - I had some - is definitely oversized, closer to 20 mm.  And I want closer to 15 mm, please, versus that 'scale creep' to 18 mm.  Also, no idea of anyone selling gates only in HO, just with fences.  Same story in N scale which is too small - and TT too hard to find and costly for what it is.  So, miniatures oriented products, please.

A photo of either the Essex or Irregular Miniatures 15 mm gates would be helpful if anybody has one to share.

freerangeegg (nice handle),

Thanks for the pointer to Hovels - and half the price of Essex!   Plus I was planning on an order to them for a few bits.

edit: went ahead and placed an order with Hovels for a bunch of gates.

Essex was kind enough to send along a photo of their 'wagon' wide gate - but I'd already ordered from Hovels.  Would post but seems to be a bit of an issue just now.
