Really enjoy the fine sculpting on these 1/72 metal miniatures!

Read your block.....searching for the commander of the 2 Battalion is really difficult. Cost me the half night without a real match. But i found something.

badish officer register
Louis Josef : Regiment commander
Keller Franz : Battalion commander
Delovme Heinrich : Battalion commander

battle of Talavera, Porbeck and von Stockhorn death and artillery commander wounded. Major Grolman Ludwig take position for Porbeck. "Kinder, heute ist der Tag an dem wir unsere Ehre erwerben müssen" and Porbeck rides with his brown horse to the attack.

1809 Carl Freiherr von Neuenstein got the Regiment after his arrival in Spain.

badish atrillery in spain 6x 6pdr howitzer and 2x 7pdr Howitzer.

Thanks so much for your work on this bluechi and so sorry I am just now seeing your comment!

I am aiming for the 1811-1812 period.  Just last night I found a reference to Hauptmann Friedrich Pfnor leading a battalion in Russia ~1812-13, so felt like he might be a likely candidate for a second battalion commander in Spain.

Did you happen to note the time period for Louis Josef or Keller Franz or the source?

Really appreciate you digging in!

I have GdB Neuenstein leading the whole brigade as he was promoted by 1811.

David

Very nice links!  Definitely challenging for my 40 year old high school German lessons, but amazingly some of that instruction stuck!

I think I am good with Henning for the 1st battalion (I usually model the Colonel/Oberst for the first battalion of the French/German battalions anyway, rather than the battalion commander.  Lassolaye for the Artillery, but I am guessing his rank in 1811-12 as Major.  For the second battalion I'm just guessing, could be Freidrich Pfnor or could be Franz or Heinrich were still commanding.  Without anything definitive I'll leave it as Pfnor simply because I have already made the label, but if you find something different I'll be happy to make a change and update my blog!

Thanks so much.  This was a fun excursion!

It was a lot of fun to read the eyewitness reports  :D one of the best was at the battle of Vitoria. badish artillery Commander( may be Lassolaye) under fire by the british artillery to his officiers : " Gentlemen, this is the last bottle of wine, lets drink it !" Lassolaye : 1809 Captain, 1812 Major , 1814 Oberst Leutnant.
can you give me the resource for Pfnor ? got no real match.

He is mentioned a couple of times here:

https://www.napoleon-series.org/military-info/organization/Baden/Sauzey/SauzeyBadenChapter5.pdf

But there was also a German language source that just listed the names of multiple Landowners with a military background, but without much in the way of description.  As I reread it I may have missed the cavalry heading.  Here was the heading that might point you in the right direction:  Badische Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe
Digitale Sammlung der Badischen Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe
III. Großherzogliche Orden

Amazing!  Not only that you found an engraving, but that he made it out of Russia and back to Spain!
