15mm wet assets (25-5 Mooring Pontoon)
« on: 20 May 2025, 09:42:59 AM »
Made in a day, languised for 9 months. No, not one of my kids, but a boat.  lol

Finished up a bit of scatter for my 15mm table, that ended up in a scheme that only hit home once I was editing the photo's (per usual). I got this as a gift ages agao while it was painted as a WW2 German boat with oil drums in the front and the windows already filled in, but I cleaned it up, added a mast, resin tires, more netting and then the top light broke off, then reprimed it

Quote
"One of the many small fishing boats fishing for sardines off of the coast of Wadiya, KG 3 is nice and bright with the usual eyes on the bow to ward off bad luck. To date, she has never burned down and only dragged a naval mine once"

Hmmm, I know that scheme from somewhere....oh yeah!

The original model is from Kibri, set 39160, a H0 scale working boat

Looks great! Your additions really make it look "lived in," so to speak...

Mooring pontoon for the future harbour. Metal hull boat is a 15mm resin cast from The Scene in the UK (now defunct I believe?), with a bit of scrap H0 roof to cover it, and the gaps and sides filled with superglue and flour. Rusted it all out to heck. Should also work as a floating bridge support or a towed barge with cargo. Heck, mount a AA gun on it, why not.

Really good. Lovely rust! Do you really mean flour? Plain or self raising?

Regular wheat flour that I use for cooking and baking as well. I dropped it on the superglue and it creates a nicer texture for me than talcum powder, and sometimes it creates little voids for a a nice rusted through effect. Though i have not manage to finetune it to when I want it. Yet.

Thx guys. I've accumulated some H0 scaled ships in the past few weeks that are in the project box now as they need extensive salvage work, and ran into this beauty at the Figz convention today that will be just perfect for Nam as well. 1/110 or 1/120 depending on what review you read, but should be just dandy.
