This is why I love this forum, very interesting bit of history there. They do indeed look very nice, and I'd have to see a side by side, but it seems like they would stack up nicely with the current offerings to this day, which is quite an impressive feat to have achieved so long ago. markw did put it very succinctly I think, perhaps ahead of their time.

These occurrences are a shame - likely never being able to obtain a range again. Though, for what it is worth, I feel it is part of the alluring charm that makes these metal casts of sculptures of miniature figures so fascinating to collect, and the subjective value that can be personally placed on something like. So to be positive in the aftermath now that the dust has settled, I am happy for the people who have been able to collect these over the years and retain them, because me not being able to get them makes it that much more special for them  lol lol lol

Once I have completed a small epic warlord Caesar republic Roman project I will finally give the Xth legion miniatures the outcome they deserve.

Nice, eager to see how they both turn out. Between Romans and legio X I almost feel like I have a stake in this  lol

Once I have completed the warlord epic Republican Romans box I don’t think I will buy in anymore. The block figures of legionaries are in my opinion terrible casts. I will put up some pictures of the issues once I have completed this project. The individual figures are great the rest are poor and it clearly shows when you have them next to each other.

That is a shame to hear about the quality. They send me free sprues of things whenever I place an order, and it is honestly getting to the point where I feel like I am their personal trash bin as I'm reading the made in China logo on the sprue. I've never been terribly impressed with the plastic really except the "early kits back in the day" that felt exciting at the time, coming off the heels of a high point in my personal gaming timeline, well before GW and Victrix/WGA etc upped their game, though the newer 28mms I haven't had much complaints with, just unimpressed generally.  I was curious if plastic may have been my gateway into 15mm or smaller, as I often get dismayed when thinking of the prep work with drilling hands, gluing pikes, shields/transfers x100 etc. I know FoW went plastic at some point after my metal foray, but I never tried them.
But as you mention I do see your point about the individual figures, while browsing amazon the ECW pack had seemed pretty tempting, until I take a closer look at some of the infantry, it seems hit or miss. Even GW couldn't get their infantry correct for their epic launch recently...I shudder at those infantry sculpts. I am sure your Romans will still look great and be useful. Those Xth Legion figs should be an interesting changeup though -  seems like quite the quality shift!

How is that relevant ?

Did Warlord contract the sculpting to a Chinese outfit then say "Don't bother showing us any test models, just go right ahead with production. We're happy to stick our name on anything and spend several thousand £ on PR. "

If you don't like the figures then why not blame Warlord ?

I didn’t particularly blame anybody really, just stating my experience. It seemed relevant as the poor quality plastic experiences I’ve had with WLG seems to be shared by markw in his  own particular case.  I have no problem blaming Warlord, and have no issue with China, in fact they’ve screwed me over fewer times than Warlord has  lol lol
