M.A.R.S. Armorbots at Asda
« on: February 08, 2010, 07:53:19 PM »
A range of toy walkers is available at Asda. £6 each, and there are three different types, scaled up nicely with 28mm. One is supposed to look like a flying battlesuit, one has a touch of the Aliens cargo lifter about it and the third is supposed to be an underwater walker. Kind of Bioshock-meets-Transformers. This is the one I picked up. Terrible mobile phone photo because my camera is still batteryless.

They look like they'll shape up for gaming purposes with little work.

Thought you might all like to know.  :)

Any chance of a "terrible mobile phone photo" of that one?  I am in the market for a cheap Aliens power loader chassis.

Sadly not mate, my girlfriend threw out the packaging, which had a picture of all three versions on the back, pretty quickly. Sorry.

Here's a better shot of my walker with a coat of primer. The Aliens-ish one has a boxier "head" with two cargo-lifter style claws. I think, didn't have enough of a look at the packaging to commit it fully to memory. The legs were very similar to mine, I think they might all have the same legs but I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

Haha!

There are a few offcuts of carpet on the garage floor just because we didn't want to throw them out  :)

Yeah, it's probably a good size for 28mm Battletech, that's something I hadn't even considered.

Already done! The primer really made them glaringly obvious and I got down to it after I posted the photo.  :)

I got myself to Asda and took a picture of the Aliens-esque one for Cheetor.

Turns out I was wrong about it having two claws.

Thanks Tacgnol!

Is the guy in the harness roughly the same height as a 28mm figure?  If so then it looks like it is a bit larger than the Aliens loader, but I am unsure as to how much larger it is. Whenever you next take a work-in-progress shot of your walker would you mind putting a 28mm fig alongside for scale purposes?

Thanks!

Hey Cheetor.

The little guy is just over 40mm tall, and the walker I have is about 180mm tall.

Press harder, Supervike  :D

Thanks again, that is roughly what I had guesstimated.
