Funghy-Fipps, Jeeves does according to snippets of his back story in the books, have previous military experience, out in India apparently. However on the day he just coulod not get that Lewis gun to work, he held a vital spot but was unable to hit a thing. Bertie however proved to be dead eye dick with his Thompson, I thought the sixes would never stop.

Sadly the Orwell People Militia never made it to the field of honour, after receiving the information the planning committee had to meet and ratify their plan of action in response to the news. Their decision was then put to the armaments committee to decide on a proper allocation of weapons and ammunition for the job. When that meeting was concluded the resources and personnel sub-committee met to compile a list of properly qualified personnel to take part. That meeting, when finished, was celebrated  with large amounts of imported vodka, courtesy of Uncle Joe. So much was consumed, that they didn't wake up until 3.00pm the next day. Sadly nobody was sober enough to form a quorum to vote for completion of the mission. And Bertie and his boys were well away with their prize!!

I didn't know anything about Jeeves and Wooster until this battle report. I'm glad I took time to read it!

I'm a fan of both Laurie and Fry, love them in Blackadder but I'm also glad to hear there's more to watch, I know they had another show together too. At the moment I watch a bit of Qi when I can, but it's not really the same thing

More importantly, there's some new fiction to peruse. PG Wodehouse, you say? Any titles in particular that are worth picking up?

Also, I never considered putting in some Germans so this now gives me a few more options for taking part in some VBCW.

Christian, if you can get hold of any of the Jeeves and Wooster dvds with Fry and Laurie, you will not be disappointed. I found a boxed set of the whole series this Christmas, and here it was not too expensive. Worth every penny, as they get the period spot on, and they are, for me at least, the defiinitive portrayal of that pair.

You're right about the J&W DVDs too... under AU$30 for the whole series! Pip pip!

Christian, what got me interested in this BCW was that although there is going to be some serious fighting, there is no reason why it should not be fun too. In fact I would rather concentrate on some of the absurdities etc of the period than not. Of course living in the UK it does mean that its fun to set it locally, ie I have based my take on it on where I live. Also there were historically many odd fringe groups actually about at the time, like the Greenshirts, an eco warrior group who were quite militant. There is something also very Heath Robinson about much of the military technology of this time. Enjoy the Jeeves and Wooster, and I think you wil see what I mean. Hope all that makes sense.
