Hey all,
After weeks of dithering the French expedition to Atlantis has finally made landfall, With the British hot on their heels. However, after a hard fought battle on the beaches, the Thin Red Line has been made considerably thinner, and the French are now firmly lodged on the continent.
The game was a quick skirmish, mainly to test my recently acquired copy of
The Sword and the Flame, which we muddled through fairly successfully. In hindsight, I realise that I gave the French far too much firepower, but such is life.
French Forces:
14 Foreign Legionaries, 12 Senegalese Tirailleurs, 8 Turkish Zouaves, 4 Marines, 1 Heavy Field Piece, 1 Light Field piece.
British Forces:
21 line Infantry, 14 Naval Ratings, 8 Sikh Pioneers, 1 River Steamer (Nordenfelt Machine Gun),
HMS Mahratta (single turret Ironclad Gunboat).
The game was a clear victory for the French, with only half the Naval Brigade managing to make it beyond the shoreline.
I’m afraid we only took a few photos, and those weren’t very good or informative, but nevertheless here are the best;
Setup;

The
Mahratta's Captain picks his targets;

The British storm ashore, and for a moment all seems to be going her majesties’ way;

However, French command rally the troops with some exemplary flag waving, and the attack is beaten back;
