Black Army: 28mm Romfell Now Available
« on: March 05, 2010, 08:18:17 AM »
Hello, everyone -

It's very late here and I haven't had the chance today to update the website. However, as of this evening, the Austro-Hungarian Romfell armored car is available for sale to those interested. I should have it "officially" added to the website at some point tomorrow afternoon.

The Romfell is considered by some to be the most modern armored car of the First World War. It was produced primarily as a Hungarian initiative. Two (or, perhaps, three) Romfells were completed during the war. They saw extensive service on the Balkan and Eastern Fronts, and were very successful. Toward the end of the war, an order for thirty was placed - these were in various stages of completion when the war ended. Could make for a good excuse to use them in the Interwar period, too.

To my knowledge, we are, as with many of our other models, the only company to be producing this in 28mm at the moment.

This is a 28mm, 1/56 scale model in seven parts - resin hull with metal turret, machine gun, and four wheels. Sculpted by Tobi. The asking price, for the moment, is $35 US.

I'm very pleased with the results of the casting, and I think these turned out well. Hope that some of you consider picking them up:)

Thanks for your attention and continued support!

- Doc, BAP

Sweet! :D
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Doc -- will the Filatov be available soon? I was going to get that and the Romfell at the same time.

Thanks

Shame the Spanish didn't use them in the Civil War.
Or perhaps the Irish might have bought one for the IRA? ;)

Marvellous news.  My Austrian commisariat will be ordering one forthwith!

HAH;)

Well, they used just about everything else, so anything is possible, really;)

Chuck -

The story on the Filatov is that the caster was supposed to have done the masters and sent them with this shipment.  The caster mastered everything else (Japanese, Adamski, etc.) but for some reason didn't do the Filatov. So the answer is, I don't know for certain.
I'm really sorry - I had expected to have it ready by the end of March, and it still may very well be, but this has set the schedule back unexpectedly. If it makes you feel any better, the Filatov is very light, and shouldn't be much of a shipping cost.
