That is fantastic, Sky Captain.
It sounds like a castrated locomotive.

I want one!

It reminds of a group from a few years ago who made their own turbojets, sometimes with catastrophic results.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but that's not steam-powered (although it certainly looks as such). It uses hydrogen peroxide (H202) wingtip rockets. A bit dangerous, methinks, concidering the caustic properties and the problems with storing the stuff...

It does, however, look absolutely hilarious.  lol Thanks for posting.

Not enough room for coal  lol and stoking would be a bit of a problem  ;D

Wonderful bit of kit though.

cheers

Certainly got me thinking its a shame I don't collect VSF - if in principle having gas propelled from the end of the rotor blades works then how about a steam-powered chinook? The furnaces could be located under the rotors and feed up through a hollowed centre axle - the blades could then have a pipe going down the middle that exits on one side of the blade to give propulsion. And of course it would be large enough to house furnaces and coal :P.

Edit: or one central furnace with pipes leading to both rotor axles :).

You have got me thinking now! doesn't matter how improbable it would be in the real world those darn Victorians would certainly give it a whirl.
