WWI Biplane

Can anyone give me some leads on companies that make 1/43 biplanes.

Preferably, a Sopwith Camel of some sort.

I'm not too familiar with planes coming in that scale, in fact I'm not sure I ever heard of such a thing. 1/48th is the standard for planes of roughly that size. There are millions in that scale, more than you could ever want.

I have several cheap toy planes from a chinese company called new ray. They are declared as 1/48 but are at least 1/43.

Indeedy. On spec I bought a New Ray Spad some time ago as it was going cheap. It's diecast and probably 1/43- 1/40 scale. It has never come out of the box as the bloody thing would dwarf my Camel, Pfalz, Fokker DVII, Brisfit etc which are all in 1/48. If you really want one yes they do make Camels, along with Fokker Triplanes.

I suspect mine will end up as a mobile hanging in my son's room. He's obsessed with aircraft, can say 'fighter' , 'jumper', which is his version of Harrier Jump Jet and is very good at spotting aircraft and helicopters. Unfortunatley his youthful pronunciation of helicopter sounds disturbingly like 'Al Qaeda', which means that flying with Emirates is off the menu for the foreseeable future.

Particularly since their Weekend Editions are usually less than $20CDN.  Same quality kit as the higher grade Profipacks but no photoetch.

Hard to beat SMER for price. Kits are simple and robust, which for wargaming I consider a good thing.

They do a Camel, SE5,  DH2, Albatros, and others.

Special Hobby and Eduard (as already mentioned) do some very nice kits too. More expensive but also much more detailed. An almost unlimited choice of planes out there. Boggles the mind just what you can get these days.

Corgi makes a variety of 1:50 biplanes. They are pricey, but sometimes you can find some cheaper ones on that "bay" on the net.

Just checked Ebay. The Corgi planes are almost twice the price of some of the others including shipping...
