WIP - Palanquin
« on: 17 June 2010, 11:39:06 AM »
I'm working on this palanquin (also known as a palki in India) for my British in Indostan game and thought I'd post some in progress pics.

My blog has more info on the proposed campaign http://adventuresinlead.blogspot.com/

Constructive criticism more than welcome.

I like it but I'd be tempted to go with slighty smaller diameter poles (unless of course they were this size).

Are you going to put some sort of curtain/screen on?

cheers

I agree about the poles - they are just temporary and will probably be a little shorter as well.

I'm considering a removable curtain that can be put in place instead of the  occupant to get as much use out of the piece as possible. A curtain in place while someone is inside hides the figure a little too much.

A very interesting project with a great start.  8)

I agree with JB re the poles, which kind of draw attention away from the major feature, the comfy seaty boxy thingy.

Regarding the curtain, have you thought about fixing it to the roof, rather than to the outside.  If the roof were removable then you could make two, one with closed and the other with open curtains, switching betweeen the two as required.

Please continue to post progress.  :)

That looks really cool.
I'm hoping to sculpt one for Flintloque, with the pole rammed through a couple of zombies!!  lol
Nice and simple, I look forward to seeing it painted. The beads look 'right' too.
