Not sure where to put this, but I figure the original Curious George was written post WWI and pre WWII.
I'm not sure about that - one of the original (I think - I could be wrong) written/drawn stories feature George gooing up with a rocket in a very 'moon-landings'-like astronaut outfit.
My 4-year old daugther watches a lot of the animated series these days, too
Actually, it's a fairly interesting story. The Rey's (the authors of Curious George who happen to be Jewish), were living in Paris when the Germans invaded. They escaped hours before it fell into Nazi hands on a pair of bicycles. IIRC they made there way to Spain and caught a steamer ship to Brazil (and then immigrated to the United States). In their backpack was the manuscript for Curious George.
Curious George was originally to be published in France, but ended up being published in the United States (in 1941). His name was orignally "Fifi" IIRC, but they changed it to George to fit in better with their new home.
If all this doesn't scream Pulp ... I don't know what does! I can think of 1/2 dozen scenarios involving "The Man with the Yellow Hat", George, a pair of bicycles and Nazi's already!
Matakishi thanks for the pointer! ... I didn't even know eureka made chimps. For George though, I think the ones from Mega Minis might be a better start.

I don't know how tall these are, but I vaguely recall Mega Mini's are true 25mm (so tend to be on the small side). And I'd need to resculpt the head a little ... these look a little evil.
The Man with the Yellow Hat is always depicted in a suit minus the suit coat (IIRC). But other than that, that guy is really close!
Edit: Taking Matakishi's advice. I just popped over to copplestone casting and pulp figures.
I'm thinking the Palentologist might be a better fit for "The Man with the Yellow Hat".

Yes, he's packing ... but in the movie ... TMWTYH has a tranquilzer pistol? (okay ... I'm reaching). and it shouldn't be too tough to sculpt a tie (and maybe a bigger hat).
