Rattrap on Facebook and a contest
« on: 23 July 2010, 07:28:30 PM »
I know there are some of you on Facebook and some who would not go near it for anything. But, I am going to run a small contest using it to try and increase the number of people "liking" Rattrap.

Facebook is a marketing tool like many other things, but because things you like can be seen by people you are friends with, it is easy to expand beyond people who already know about our games.

Anyway, at some point next week, I am going to post a sample image on Facebook of the Scenario card deck for .45 Adventure 2nd edition that I am going to get printed. This is a test run for eventual scenario decks that will contain all the Encounter cards and character cards for a game. All you will need to do is supply terrain and miniatures (and of course know the rules). The cards will be full color and this preview set will have just 18 cards (final sets will have between 18 and 54.)

Once I post the image, anyone who, during the first week it is up, "Likes" it on Facebook will be entered to win one of these preview sets.

So go check us out on Facebook and add us to your "Likes", then be sure to check back next week.

I despise Facebook and will never ever get near it, so alas.

Ah well...I'll wait for it to appear regularly on the web.

Personally, I have a "me" site only because the significant other wanted to be able to link to her husband. The business one is for updates and a good marketing tool. Nice thing about it is that you don't have to be a member to read what I post there. Bad thing is you have to be a member to comment.

Now, we'll see how many sets I get done as to whether I offer another giveaway. :)

I got myself a FB page when the genius behind the Reunion Committee  (who happens to be my neighbor) threatened to give out my real world address to the rest of the gang from High School if I didn't join and get their idiotic updates that way! :o

So as to avoid seeing those people face-to-face I went Book instead. ::)

I have "liked" you, so bring on the prizes!

Facebook is a cheap and easy means for me to keep in contact with my acquaintances, friends and family who are in the US when i am in the UK and vice versa.  i spend a majority of my time on it in application games and reading about the minutia of my friends lives.  it has it's ups and downs.

as a marketing tool however?  that is for you to see when you you look at the 'bottom line'.  i assume (and hope) that it is still a free use for you as a business.  i doubt i could afford to pay for the services it provides on my current budget.

The Image of the cards is now up on Facebook. Even if you are not a member of Facebook and don't plan to be, head on over to the link above and get a look at what the cards will look like.

I joined facebook when I was in university.  When I joined, it was brand new.  And I mean brand new.  We were the first Canadian university that it opened up to, and only the 5th or 6th college/university in general.  I was member just over 1200 or something like that.  It was still called "thefacebook.com" at that point.

I've seen it grow from a novel socialising page that was cooler than MySpace to whatever you can call it now.
The fact that ANYONE can open up a page is both good, and bad.  Like wikipedia :)
But you have to admit, not only is it common practice to be on facebook now, it's almost taboo NOT to be on it.

Kudos to companies like Rattrap who utilise facebook for promoting their stuff.  Facebook is the new billboards, yo!

And be sure to keep an eye on the Speakeasy forum at the end of the month. I MAY have some more preview sets to give away.  8)
