That's a strange one.  I had to look pretty carefully to find it.

On p.50, David Crockett is listed as carrying a 'clubbed rifle', which is listed as being both a flintlock rifle and a two-handed weapon.  This makes it a bit more powerful than a normal rifle, which only counts as an improvised weapon.  I suspect that the description was accidentally left out in the final edit!

that makes sense. i guessed it was going to simply be a combination of a rifle and a two handed weapon, but i couldn't work out what kind of rifle it was going to be. thanks for your help.

it's mean that the rifle can be used as a hand to hand weapon because it is as strong for this purpose.

In the case of civilian percussion and flintlock weapons like Crocket carried I'd say you only get one or two swipes with it before it is useless as a firearm though.

Yep have to agree a Kentucky/Pensylvania rifle is a fragile piece, not designed as a club and would most likely break quickly.
However the popular idea of Davy swinging Old Betsy about, clubbing hordes of Mexican soldados ala Disney is hard to resist for games purposes ;) :)

If you get to the point of needing to use a longarm as a club there are more immediate concerns than "can I shoot something for dinner tonight".

Are we talking about Chuck Connors and his semi-automatic Winchester here?

Cory, I was thinking more along the line of game play. If you club some hapless fellow one turn there should be a chance that you can't shoot down one of his teammates later on.
