Chantyam needs some Giant Tortoises
« on: 12 February 2011, 04:16:00 PM »
Ok posted to this board because lets face it VSF turns up some strange and wonderfull stuff ;) I while ago I came across a tube of plastic animals in my local Poundland (UK) the pack contained a few Turtles and about two (I think) Giant Tortoises, now in a moment of "they might come in handy" I bought two packs, now with an idea to use the Tortoise's as mounts for some cavalry the turtures may get some south seas natives either sufing on them or using them as swining aids :D but of course they are no longer in stock and haven't been in stores for quite some time. They stand about 50mm at the highest point (the head and neck stretched out from the body)
The question can anyone come up with some cheap alternatives to the Early Learning Centres SCHlEICH ones (nice but at over £3.00 no thanks) or playing e-bay roulette. Thanks for any suggestions Darren

Thanks thats close DD but this pack had only Turtles amd Tortoises to the pack and looking at it now I don't know the logic in putting the two together! but bitting the bullet I have won a few of the old "Britians" toy Giant Tortoises on e-bay and got a few cheap(er) than marked price Schieich ones but it really grates me that I didn't got for it and get a few more packs at the time >:(
how many times have we said that? Ho hum still think I'll come out with enough for a small force its just not going to be as cheap or easy to put together ::)

Try this: Turtle Tank by Eureka Miniatures.
I've seen this model and it's great. The turtle itself is about 4"+ long by 2"+ high.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

I've seen that before -perhaps when I get into painting and re-modeling the rest I may drop Nic a line to buy it without the crew.
It may be ideal for a comand figure or perhaps a larger cannon :)
