Nice job Gluteus!

You have awaken the Hadendowah in me   :-*

I am impressed by those movement trays you had in the gallery. The individual bases hardly show at all. Do you have any experience to share making those?

Thanks! It was pretty good - I got a Lemmy t-shirt, 4 packs of Perry Hadendowah and their book Go Strong into the Desert - and that's on top of the concert ticket & t-shirt for Black Country Communion's first proper gig in Wolverhampton  ;D

Happy day indeed!

Everyone needs a few hundred Hadendowah as far as I'm concerened  lol

As for the tray (there's only one so far as I'm so slow at making things  :'(  ) here's what I did.

I used a sheet of fairly thick plastic card (either .30 or .50), then made frames using that "right-angle" plastic strip that railway modellers use for angle-iron etc. Once that was dry I just filled in the gaps with my home-made basing compound (PVA glue, DIY filller, sand and a spot of brown paint), with a few rocks and tufts of grass from a doormat. Next, I dry brushed in a sandy yellow shades and highlighted with the sort of sandy-beige colour used in outdoor wall paint and finally stuck some Woodland Scenics middle green foliage on for mimosa scrub. The base is a bit more of a yellowish shade than in the photograph, but for some reason my auto-fix didn't bring the true colour out like it normally does. The hardest bit was getting the holes the exact size and if I were to post a "bird's eye view" shot, you'd see some pretty big gaps. They say the camera never lies, well......   lol

Captain Blood has done a far better version here:

Thanks for the tutorial! I might steal that concept, in some way I need to arrange my horde for the New York Draft Riots. Maybe using some kind of brick street base would make gaps less visible.

Steal away my friend. It will make a very welcome change from me stealing everyone else's stuff  lol

As to gaps, so long as you are precise in your cutting/building they should be unobtrusive. I'm a very average terrain maker and mine isn't too bad. Bricks/cobbles should work well.

Whatever you decide, I'll be delighted to see your results  :D
