The Cleric quintet review
« on: September 13, 2011, 01:23:17 PM »
A five book series about the newbie cleric Cadderly and his friends who are pitted against undead, vampires, a dragon and all kinds of crazy stuff as they try to stop the corruptive powers of the "chaos curse" unleashed by Cadderly's evil wizard father.

A change of pace from the Icewind Dale characters and story Salvatore provided in his other books. This band of characters start out as something you would call "level 1" and as the series goes on they get more adept at fighting and casting spells. It does also provide a couple of new combat styles, with Cadderly casting spells and using various items and his friend the monk Danica beating things up with her hands - which in the end makes for a different experience compared to the action in the books revolving around Drizzt.

I read the first one when it came out. I couldn't choke down any others.

I'm a Leiber, Moorcock, & CL Werner fan.  Just can't do Salvatore anymore.
